And We have set up the sky as a canopy well-secured #Quran

canopy (ˈkænəpɪ) — n , pl -pies
1. an ornamental awning above a throne or bed or held over a person of importance on ceremonial occasions
2. a rooflike covering over an altar, niche, etc
3. a roofed structure serving as a sheltered passageway or area
4. a large or wide covering, esp one high above: the sky was a grey canopy
5. the nylon or silk hemisphere that forms the supporting surface of a parachute
6. the transparent cover of an aircraft cockpit
7. the highest level of branches and foliage in a forest, formed by the crowns of the trees

 And [that] We have set up the sky as a canopy well-secured And yet, they stubbornly turn away from [all] the signs of this creation

“Waves Shielded from You”

Have you ever wondered why do Moslems build domes above Masjeds? There are two in Mekkah above Safa & Marwah, the green dome above the Prophet’s Masjed and the beautiful Dome of the Rock. Almost every Masjed has one.

In order to clarify this Ayah, It is important that we address the definitions referenced in the Quran such as the sky, “heaven” or “Samaa” “السماء”; which was referenced around 120 times, “Heavens & Earth” or “السموات والارض” that was referenced around 189 times and the Lower Heaven around 3 times.

The books of Tafseer and Arabic dictionaries refer to the term heavens in “Heavens & Earth” as the seven layers above earth while Prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him clearly clearly defined the the distance to the first heaven as the travel distance (walking) of 500 years, while the distance from one heaven to the next is the travel distance is 500 years and the thickness of each heaven is the travel distance is 500 years, since the daily travel distance is roughly 40 km, then the travel distance of 500 years is 40 km/day * 365.25  days/year * 500 years = 7,305,000 km, thus the distance from earth to the seventh heaven is 7,305,000 km * 7 = 51,135,000 km. This is almost equivalent to the distance to the orbit of Venus from one side (41,887,403) and Mars from the other side (77,790,892 ). Verse 16 of Sorat Noah confirms this by stating that the moon (400,000 km away) lies within the 7 heavens while the sun (149,597,870 km away) lies outside: [71:16] And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? The Almighty described himself as the creator of excellence to the Heaven & Earth. [2:117] To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth: When He decreeth a matter, He saith to it: “Be,” and it is. 

But what about “The Heaven”? The Almighty described it as 1- Woven with Stars as explained in our article “By the Heaven that is Woven” , 2-  Containing star clusters and Zodiac Signs [85:1] By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs, 3- The heaven was constructed with great strength and it is currently expanding [51:47] And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander 4- The heaven is split in the location of exploding stars [55:37] And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil. 5- [32:5] He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count. 6- The heaven is raised from earth and it is in a balanced state [55:7] And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance. 7- Creation of the heaven is more difficult than the creation of man [79:27] [O MEN!] Are you more difficult to create than the heaven which He has built?. [79:28] High has He reared its vault and formed it in accordance with what it was meant to be; 8- Allah raised The Heaven from earth like a canopy [21:32] And We have made the heavens as a canopy well guarded: yet do they turn away from the Signs which these things (point to)!

The “Lower Heaven” was clearly defined  in our article “وزينّا السماء الدنيا بمصابيح محفظا“

“Waves Shielded from You”

Although the earth is part of The Heaven, The Heaven was raised above the earth by a force we do not see, and this force creates an effect that looks like a canopy or dome that shields earth from Waves; a man asked prophet Mohammad about this Heaven referenced in the Ayah [21:32], prophet Mohammad replied ‘Waves Shielded from You” or  ” موج مكفوف عنكم “.

Reading from Voyager I & II showing that Voyager I which has left the solar system is exposed to more cosmic rays than its sister and is detecting less solar rays

In September 2013, NASA announced that the spaceship Voyager 1; which was launched in 1977, has left the solar system and is now sailing in the open space between the stars, NASA reached this conclusion when the spaceship sensors detected an increase in cosmic rays while the familiar solar system particles dropped drastically. The open space contains rays in the form of waves generated by the galactic center (Super-massive black hole) and Super Nova explosions in the form of Gamma-Rays and X-Rays, however the intensity of such rays is reduced drastically within the solar system by a canopy-like invisible wall that is formed as a result of the collision of high-energy particles in the form of Gamma-Rays and X-Rays with the solar winds generated by the Sun.

This event was referenced in several verses in the Quran indicating its importance for a habitable planet:

[88:18] And at the Sky, how it is raised high?

[55:7] And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance.

[21:32] And [that] We have set up the sky as a canopy well-secured And yet, they stubbornly turn away from [all] the signs of this [creation]

[22:65] … and He holdeth back the heaven from falling on the earth unless by His leave. Lo! Allah is, for mankind, Full of Pity, Merciful.

The Science Behind it!

As solar winds collide with high-energy particles such as Gamma and X-rays, the rays are scattered in a different direction after losing some of its energy in an effect known as Compton Scattering as shown in the illustration below, note that energy is represented as waves. As solar wind reach zero speed, it forms what looks like a dome or a canopy that separates the solar system (Lower Heaven) from the Heaven. The Almighty raised The Heaven with solar winds that protects life on earth for deadly high-energy waves, should such high-energy waves reach the atmosphere, scientists believe that this will cause a reaction in the atmosphere creating of large quantities of N2O or the yellow gas; also known as smog.

When a high-energy particle collide with an electron, the particle scatters in one direction while the electron goes to the other .direction in an effect called the Campton Scattering. Note that the particles are represented as waves in the illustration.

The Almighty attested in several places in the Quran with a phenomenon that cannot be seen nor understood without advanced science, moreover, life on earth would not have been possible without this phenomenon. The Almighty described himself as the creator of excellence of the “Heavens & Earth” [6:101] To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth: How can He have a son when He hath no consort? He created all things, and He hath full knowledge of all things.

The messenger of Allah stated with confidence and assurance the source of his knowledge by explaining this phenomenon as ‘Waves Shielded from You” or  ” موج مكفوف عنكم “!

[9:128] There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful. [9:129] But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, “Sufficient for me is Allah ; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.”

{ لَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ } * { فَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ لاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ } التوبة 128.
