- That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Sufficient for you among the women of
mankind are Mariam bint 'Imran, Khadijah bint Khuwailid, Fatimah bint
Muhammad and Asiyah the wife of Fir'awn."
- 'A'isha reported : Never did I feel jealous of the wives of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) but in case
of Khadija, although I did no, (have the privilege to) see her. She
further added that whenever Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) slaughtered a sheep,
he said: Send it to the companions of Khadija I annoyed him one day and
said: (It is) Khadija only who always prevails upon your mind. Thereupon
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Her love had been nurtured in my heart by
Allah Himself.
-
Ismail reported:
I said to 'Abdullah b. Abi Aufa: Did Allah's
Messenger (ﷺ) give glad tidings of Paradise to Khadija? He said: Yes. He
did give glad tidings to her of a palace of jewels in Paradise wherein
there would be no noise and no toil.
Amazing Story
- The Prophet, peace be upon him, said Many a man achieved perfection, but amongst women none attained perfection except for Khadija, daughter of Khuwaylid Fatima, daughter of Muhammad peace be upon him Asiya, wife of Pharaoh Mary, daughter of Imran And the superiority of Aisha over other women is like the superiority of Tharid to other meals.with as-Sayyid Muhammad as-Saqqaf Episode Nineteen In the Name of Allah. All Praise be to Allah. Salutations and Peace be upon our Master, the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and companions.
Today we speak about the
life of our beloved, our mother and the mother of all believers, the beloved of the
Messenger of Allah, the
precious pearl, the glorious jewel, the brilliant star in the sky of this
Ummah, the white page in the pages of the life of the Messenger of Allah, peace
and blessings be upon him,the crown of the women of the world, our Liegelady
Khadijah daughter of Khuwaylid.
She embodies Divine
selection since Allah Most Exalted chose her to be the beloved of the Messenger
of Allah and his wife, and the mother of the sons and the daughters of Messenger
of Allah.
She was the one who gave
victory to him and the first to believe in him, the patient one, the merchant,
the one who persevered, the intelligent one, the sagacious one, the clever one,
the genius of this Ummah, the one who sacrificed.
Say whatever you wish in
praise of our Liegelady Khadija but know it can never equal her station and
rank with Allah and with His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him!
We are happy in the mere
remembrance of the Perfected Women. How then if one of us were to have a connection to
them! And if we were to see them on the Day of Judgment! We ask Allah to unite us with them in goodness and
well-being. The
lineage of our Liegelady Khadijah daughter of Khuwaylid meets the Prophet’s
lineage at Qusayy, son of Kilaab, whose name was Hakeem. (Kilaab was his
nickname).
Therefore, she meets with
the Prophet, peace be upon him, in lineage. She is a Qurayshite from the most elite homes
in Makkah. She was
from the Clan of Asad. Her family’s home was the closest to the Ka’ba; just a
few meters away from the Ka’ba. She was raised in a dignified, noble and luxurious
home. Her home was one of the wealthiest in Makkah.
When she grew into a young
woman, the youth of Makkah flocked for her hand. Hala married her but he died.Someone else married her
but then separated from her. From her marriages she had two children. Thereafter for years she
abstained from marriage. There was no comparable match for her despite
everything Makkah had to offer.
She engaged in trade.
Due to her experience,
skill and vast understanding, she fully understood how to deal with men.
She would dispatch
caravans.
And she would compete with
men in trade and reselling her merchandise for profit.
Khadija’s business became
one of the biggest in Makkah.
In fact, some scholars of
biography say that Khadija possessed the greatest wealth in Makkah.
Years passed. She then
heard from various places [of the coming of a prophet]. Our Liegelady Khadija was older than the Prophet,
peace and blessings be upon him, by fifteen years.
She had heard about the
birth of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
So she made a connection
with the home where he was born, peace and blessings be upon him, and his
mother Amina. She knew
about his wondrous birth. And something many people might not know is that our
Liegelady Khadija never committed adultery or drank alcohol in the Days of
Ignorance before Islam.
She was the epitome of
chastity and nobility. She and some of her relatives had studied the way of
Our Master Abraham, the Intimate Friend of Allah (peace be upon him). They had
looked at the Heavenly Books. Waraqa bin Nawfal, the son of her maternal aunt, had
become a Christian in the period of Ignorance and was well-versed in the
Gospel.
So religiosity and worship
of Allah was present in her home. And her sound natural disposition drove her to reject
idols. So she
never worshiped idols.
It has never been said that
she worshipped them or inclined to them. This was all part of submission [to the One God].
These were all early,
miraculous signs that indicated this woman had a high station and rank and that
she was being prepared for something big. She heard about the Prophet, peace and blessings be
upon him.
She heard about that young
man, Muhammad son of Abdullah, the truthful, the trustworthy, the God-fearing,
the pure, the immaculate one who had never ever lied or been treacherous, and
whose qualities were being cited by people as examples of perfection.
People in Makkah knew of
his absolute dignity. Of the people of Makkah, he was the highest in
lineage, the best in family, the noblest in splendour, the most beautiful in
character, the most trustworthy in his dealings.
So after she heard and saw
all this, she foresaw that a tremendous matter awaited him, especially since
she had known about him from birth and had heard some of what was said about
him.
Some people would come to
Waraqa and together they would carefully study the characteristics of Prophet
of the End of Times. This
discussion about the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was
among the miraculous signs [of her coming fortune].
Thus, she wanted to draw
near to him, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
She spoke to his uncle, Abu
Talib, to request Muhammad to work in her business.
Prior to that, the Prophet,
peace and blessings be upon him, was a shepherd for the people of Makkah.
And that was preparing him,
peace and blessings be upon him, to shepherd the Ummah.
Our Liegelady Khadija spoke
to the Prophet’s uncle, Abu Talib, because he was her means, and he was his
uncle and his guardian from childhood.
So Abu Talib went to him
and said “O Muhammad, our affairs have become heavy and we have too many
children.”
Abu Talib was poor despite
being a leader in Makkah. But his lack of wealth did not reduce his standing or
nobility or rank amongst the people of Makkah. The point is that Abu Talib conveyed our Liegelady
Khadija’s request to work with her in business. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon
him, accepted.
He took a trade caravan of
hers to the Levant and she sent Maysara to accompany him.
Here we point out Khadija’s
genius. Once a
man was giving testimony to the good conduct of another man. Our Master Umar b.
al-Khattab asked the one giving testimony if he knew the one he was praising.
He replied, “Yes, I know
him well.” Our
Master Umar asked him, “Have you ever travelled with him?” He replied, “No.” Our Master Umar asked him,
“Have you ever had any financial dealings with him?” He replied, “No.” Our Master Umar said, “Go,
because you don’t know him! Men’s characters are known when dealing with them
in financial matters and during travel.”
You see many people with
beautiful appearance and nice, refined manners. However, it’s when you travel with them for three or
four days when you discover their character.
If you have financial
dealings with them, their inner realities appear. Such dealings clarify their fundamental natures. Through our Liegelady
Khadija’s intelligence, genius and sagacity, she killed two birds with one
stone. She
immediately wanted to know more about him. She foresaw he [was the awaited Prophet] and wanted
him but she wanted to be certain.
So she sent Maysara with
him on the journey to the Levant. Maysara went to the Levant with the Prophet, peace and
blessings be upon him, and he saw absolute wonders.
He met a monk who informed
him that he was with the Prophet of the End of Times.
And that only Prophets had
ever sat under a particular tree [that the Prophet had sat under].
Maysara would see two
Angels shading the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his
family. And he
saw what was greater than these miracles.
He saw beautiful character,
truthfulness, loyalty and generosity that he had never before known of in any
human being! The
caravan returned to Makkah with immense profit.
And here came the next
stage for Khadija bint Khuwaylid.
And this is what we will
discover in our coming episode how our Liegelady Khadija got close to the
Beloved of Allah, our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and upon
he
